ENSTINET's Union List of
Periodicals in Egypt
The purpose of the
union list is:
-
to promote
resource sharing of library materials at the national level,
-
to minimize
duplication in library holdings,
-
to secure more
efficient cooperation and services for collection development,
-
to develop
subject lists in many disciplines,
-
to support the
local document delivery services in Egypt.
The holdings of some libraries
including Universities , research or specialized libraries located in Egypt were
compiled ,processed revised and formulated to present about 21000 titles
(including cross references) available in more than 370 libraries in Egypt. Each
library is updating its holding either manually or electronically.
The database is
following international standards in documentation (e.g. ISO 3166(3) for country codes, AACR2 for
cataloging Dewey Decimal for classification...etc.).
The major source of
ENSTINET products and inspirations is the end users with a demand driven
philosophy ,ENSTINET will always pursue the rendering of quality services to its
end users.
